October 7. I take the train from Pisa to Rome and on the way I notice this little town named St. Marinella very near Rome -- which was fortunate because when I arrived in Rome I couldn't find a hotel. Rome was full, so I got back on the train and returned here to St. Marinella.

I find a room here at the Hotel Gabbiano; a clean, comfortable, single room with shower for only L70,000 per night.
